East Central Ohio Beekeepers Association

Home

The East Central Ohio Beekeepers Association provides a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in bees to come and gather great resources and knowledge about the honeybee. Practical knowledge, workshops and demonstrations are planned throughout the year. At every meeting we discuss important bee topics along with a Q & A with a panel of experienced beekeepers. Everyone is welcome!

Our mission is to support beekeeping in the east central Ohio area counties of Fairfield, Licking, Muskingum and Perry. We provide our membership with educational opportunities, updates on current beekeeping information and methods, and promote public awareness about the important benefits of beekeeping to our global food supply

Our meetings are held the third Thursday of each month beginning at 6:30 PM - visit our Schedule & Calendar page to see all our upcoming events

Most of the annual crop acreage planted in North America this year will be planted with neonicotinoid treated seed. Neonicotinoids are extremely toxic to honey bees and recent research suggests that honey bees foraging near these types of plantings may be at risk. The risk is greatest during the period while crops are being planted.

In addition to providing an overview of the research, the webinar offers suggestions for both field crop growers and beekeepers that can minimize the chances of honey bee exposure to these chemicals in the field.
